Cinematic scenes

Photo ofÇağla Polat Hosted by Çağla Polat

I enjoy creating images that look as though they came straight out of a movie. Combining light, composition, and subject, I try to produce a scene that generates an emotional response from the viewer. We may have different opinions about an image, but most photographers agree that the story is what is important. How do you see it? How do you want to tell it? This will lead you to create a certain look. Share your best cinematic images.

Thank you so much dear @cagla

Cagla

@paulonunofilm We are at Halloween season and this one looks spooky at all! What an eerie frame, love it.

Cagla

@k_martirosyan Thanks for sharing, Karen. Early hours of the day is my absolute favorite, quite and calming and you will never know what is waiting for you. Because of that I always wake up early in autumn and winter season.

Cagla

@kashkawtfit Neon signs for life!! Perfect location, most of my friends are from LA and there are some incredible places to take pictures, for example this one.

Cagla

@muted.memories Amazing! Lights reflected to water perfectly, green tones created an amazing futuristic atmosphere and the fish boat literally completed the whole scene.

Cagla

@cheesdees Thank you for sharing your creative process, Michael. What a great way to turning a everyday habit into something beautiful in an artistic way.

Cagla

@cheesdees This reminded me 80's movies with a strong retro wave feeling! Purple looks so natural and calming, love the car detail.

Cagla

@sebarojo Sometimes we get the shot at unexpected times, and I think this is one of them. Also, what a cool couple :) I wonder what they were talking about, how was their day. I always lost in thoughts like these while photographing people.

Cagla

@sebarojo I could agree with you more! The feeling of saying "Yes, this is the shot" is immaculate. The carnival shot feels like remembering your childhood at your older ages, while visiting that place after years later. Love the soft yellows and smoothness of this shot.

Cagla

@hangingonyourwall What a sublime shot Annamaria. The title fits really well, whole scene reminds me the movie Interstellar, ocean scenes of it. White dress is a nice choice. Looks like she is holding blue flowers; simple yet impressive color palette.

Cagla

@ilya.natarius I have a deep love for suburban places and their potential for photo works and you did an amazing job, Ilya. Colors on point, the light reflect on the puddle makes it more interesting. If I had to choose one word to describe this photo, it would be mysterious.

Cagla

@jacksoncarvalho Woah! For a second I thought this is a frame from a movie. Neon signs and fog mixed with blue cold creates a dystopian scene, and this is literally what I am obsessed :) I am really curious about the process of this work, amazing job!

Cagla

@tommybui.tb I can easily say that this frame is from a movie! I think Wong Kar Wai has a huge role on our cinematic works, I can see through your usage of reds and oranges; directly reminds me his works. Love how you get the film vibes with digital, it’s something hard to create

Cagla

@trungbaotr Excellent! Those warm colors with the reflect of the window on the lake is just created the perfect mood. The background reminds me a scene from the movie "Walkabout" 1971.

Cagla

@dusana Somehow this reminds me Blade Runner 2049, not because of the orange but the building looks futuristic with cold browns; I got dystopian vibes, and the framing is very well.

Cagla

@julianor.tiz Isn’t it beautiful how we get so many thoughts while taking a single picture? Your description as beautiful as your shot and I can see the feeling of peace and loneliness. I was wondering if it’s shot on film or digital?

Cagla

@kocarmit Thanks for sharing your piece, Carmit! Reminds me old black and white movies, also It’s shot on film makes it more nostalgic.

Cagla

@jacksoncarvalho What a breathtaking scene, love how you combine different layers with techniques. I also combine different shots and objects almost every time, sometimes people say that photography means one shot; otherwise it loses it’s meaning but I don’t agree with that.

Kashka

@trungbaotr, 'the final breath of the day' has such a peaceful feeling to it. It's breathtaking. I love the fog and the reflection of the light in the water

Cagla

@witchoria I'm in love! Thanks for sharing Victoria, I've seen so many works done at Times Square but this one looks exactly out of from this word, I wanted to learn digital manipulation lately so thanks for the inspiration!

Cagla

@cine_boi Now we all can agree that this reminded us Wong Kar Wai movies :) You combined every detail of my favorite! Framing is really cool, I would also prefer grainy green tones here!

Cagla

@thimo_mit_h Fog is my all time favorite weather and this shot directly reminded me Tarkovsky's works! Emptiness and calmness spoke so much here, looks small but the house detail fit very well.

Cagla

@bia.cm I think pandemic affected us so much in a creative way, sometimes we seen everyday places without any single person; this led us to see those places with different sight. Subways has a huge role in cinematic works, and these tones really straight out from a movie!

Cagla

Rassya Rayendra Daffa, thank you for sharing with the backstory. I also try experimental works while waiting for something at somewhere, time or place doesn't matter for creativity, right? Also really loved the light trails, almost thought this was shot on film.

Cagla

@eebubee Thanks for sharing your piece! I've been at so many rave concerts and I have these kind of works so much, mixed and blurred tones with dynamism; these sums up rave culture very well and yes, long exposures are my all time favorite :)

Dhhruv Singh

Love how the cinematic styles mesh in with the pictures people have clicked here. specially loved seeing a new outlook on overexposed film with the "raving in beijing" click, goes to show how one can break the rules and make something so amazingly unique and interesting
