Protect our planet

Photo ofFavianna Rodriquez Hosted by Favianna Rodriquez

Images help shape our relationship to the natural world, including how we use energy, how we consume, and how we interact with other species. In these times of climate crisis, we urgently need images that help spur our imagination about a clean-energy future in which we are more in harmony with nature. How are you using images to inspire audiences to get active around climate solutions? Share images of your work or other artists you admire that have motivated you to act.

Remember that art is critical for addressing the climate chaos.

Favianna Rodriguez

Thank you to all the creatives who submitted images for this theme. I encourage everyone to stay up to date with global conversations about climate change happening for the next few weeks as global leaders gather for the UN Climate Conference.

@LeviteEquensen The cats in this image are a great metaphor for human relationships as well as a reminder of how protecting our planet means protecting all species.

Favianna Rodriguez

@KatiaValoyes Yes! Cloth napkins are an eco option. I generally love art that is about moving away from single use items (like napkins, plastic cups and plates). I wonder if this message could be stronger with text.

Kameron Rufener

@FaviannaRodriguez I love your piece of art! It communicates such an important message that I believe we should all be aware of. Eating organic locally grown food not only helps our planet but also benefits our well-being.

Favianna Rodriguez

@AlexD I absolutely love this whole concept! From the message to the careful way in which you created the piece. And all the research that went into it!! And that it's a zero waste art piece. Great job!

Favianna Rodriguez

@Nicolle Yes, the oceans are so core to our human survival. I love this close up of the elements of the ocean, it works well as metaphor. I would suggest adding some words with a call to action.

Favianna Rodriguez

@LoraStaneva I enjoyed your triptych. Yes, the ocean is core to our existence, more people have to learn about and also protect it. Our oceans are in deep crisis. The images on these pieces helps me feel the magic of the ocean. I encourage you to include a call to action or words

@SakeenaTayebji I love the concept of this piece. It makes me think about our human relationship to the soil and all things that grow in it. I wonder what it would look like for the ground level to be actual soil, or plants, or somekind of nature based surface?

Favianna Rodriguez

@Aly I love the energy of this piece! I love that you intentionally showed Black youth enjoying nature given the history of exclusion in the USA and particularly the South. The shirt design ion the right figure is awesome! Great job!

Favianna Rodriguez

@Ewyn The gas mask is definitely a powerful symbol to address toxins in our air. Makes me also think about wildfires and how frequent they have become. The design as BW works and I wonder what a visual reference to fires could look like?

Favianna Rodriguez

@Styraxe I love the concept of breathing as a way to inspire people to protect the planet. The mushrooms inside the face are a beautiful symbol too!
